SANTA BARBARA, CA-After going 1-1 in the first weekend of the kickoff tournament for the Fall 8-Goal Tournament Series, John Muse and Team UCLA/Lucchese (3-1) came out on top after defeating Team Barrossa/STG (2-2) in a thrilling 7 chukkar match, 9-8.

The crowd at the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club was treated to free polo when UCLA/Lucchese and Barrossa needed an extra period to settle their championship match on Sunday afternoon. Knotted up at 8-8 after regulation, Tournament MVP Agustin Molinas ran the ball through off of a beautiful full-length pass from teammate Conrad Kissling to seal the deal for Team UCLA/Lucchese.

18-year old Kissling had plenty to be proud of after, saying, “It was an incredibly hard-fought match that lasted until the very end. Barrossa gave us an incredibly hard time throughout all seven chukkers, but we focused and tried to stay very disciplined at the end. Fortunately we were able to come out with the win.”

The final served as a rematch for UCLA and Barrossa as the two faced off the previous day, with UCLA winning 11-9. Both teams earned finals berths with their records and point differential.

Next up for Team UCLA/Lucchese is the Travel Associates, USPA Wickenden Cup, September 29-Oct 7.
