Celebrating Country Music's Legends:

On Sunday, April 19, 2015, the Academy of Country Music Awards will celebrate its 50th Anniversary by broadcasting the show live from AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys. A sold out crowd of country music fans is expected for the event. Lucchese has been blessed with a number of country artists who wear our products on and off the stage. One of those artists was country music legend Mr. Johnny Cash.  Johnny Cash performed from 1954 up until his death in 2003, and is one of the most respected and influential artists in music history to date.

Throughout his career, Johnny Cash collaborated with several renowned country music and rock artists. A legendary recording session at Sun Records in 1956 included Cash, Elvis, Carl Perkins, and Jerry Lee Lewis.  This session was affectionately called “The Million Dollar Quartet,” which included country and gospel music. In 1985, Johnny Cash was part of The Highwaymen, consisting of influential singers Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson. This super group won the Academy of Country Music’s “Single of the Year” in 1985 for “Highwayman.” Johnny Cash was nominated 16 times by the Academy of Country Music winning four times, including the exclusive Pioneer Award. Johnny Cash also holds the rare distinction of being elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the Gospel Music Hall of Fame because of his diverse presence in the music scene.

Johnny Cash’s last performed on July 5, 2003 at the Carter Family Fold.  It’s reported that before singing his signature song “Ring of Fire” that night, Cash read a statement about June Carter Cash, his wife who had recently passed away.

“The spirit of June Carter overshadows me tonight with the love she had for me and the love I have for her. We connect somewhere between here and heaven. She came down for a short visit, I guess, from heaven to visit with me tonight to give me courage and inspiration like she always has.”

Despite several health issues and the passing of his wife, Johnny Cash continued to work and produced over 60 songs, further demonstrating dedication and passion for his craft.

Lucchese is proud to have worked with country music legend stars like Johnny Cash; and wishes to continue this tradition with the future legends of country music.
